Code audit.
Clarity before more code.
Understand what your application actually does, where it falls short and what needs to change before launch.
Find out what the code actually supports.
A code audit is a structured review of an application against the job it needs to do. For a troubled AI-built product, the useful result is an explanation of what is complete, what fails and what work stands between the current build and a dependable release.
RescueFoundry offers code audit and code review services as part of a scoped recovery engagement. Start with a free initial assessment to discuss the symptoms. Repository inspection, security investigation and implementation are agreed separately.
When a code audit is useful
- The screens work, but important transactions do not complete.
- A previous developer has left and your team cannot establish what is finished.
- AI-generated changes keep breaking previously working features.
- You are approaching launch with unexplained crashes or security concerns.
- You need evidence to choose between repairing the application and rebuilding part of it.
What we agree to examine
Implementation and critical journeys
We establish which user journeys matter, then review the code and dependencies behind them. A button, API route or database table is only one part of a feature. The full journey must handle the right data and leave the system in the expected state.
Security and data boundaries
Depending on scope, the review can examine authentication, permissions, sensitive operations and data exposure. An interface hiding an action does not establish that the backend prevents it. We agree any specialist testing needed for the system and its risks.
Reliability and the release environment
We look at the conditions under which the product fails, how errors are handled and what differs between development and production. A dependency failure, repeated request or interrupted operation can expose gaps that a successful demonstration did not exercise.
What the findings should give you
We agree the review output before work begins. A useful recovery report connects each finding to its effect on the product, the evidence available and the next action. It should identify urgent issues, incomplete features, dependencies and the checks needed to confirm a repair.
That makes it possible to prioritise the work and scope a recovery. It also makes the limits visible: the parts examined, the parts outside scope and any questions requiring further access or testing.
That was the position in our US banking software rescue, alongside server crashes and serious security failures. The Conso4s team recovered the build and launched it in six weeks. Read the actual engagement →
AI code audit, code review or security test?
A review of a proposed code change, a whole-application audit and a penetration test answer different questions. We use the initial assessment to identify the work your situation calls for. A recovery code audit is not a security certification or a promise that every vulnerability will be found.
The approach combines engineering judgement with appropriate checks. OWASP describes how manual security code review complements automated testing, particularly where business logic and application context matter.
Bring the problem to the first conversation.
Tell us what the application should do, how it was built, what is failing and whether customers already use it. You do not need to send source code or credentials with your enquiry. We can then agree the access, scope, deliverables and cost of a deeper review.
